The accelerated adoption of the industrial Internet of Things over the last 2-3 years has been driven by the widespread wireless connectivity in sensors and devices, launch of specialized cloud computing and application hosting services and demonstrable business benefits across use cases in several verticals. Digital factories epitomize this wave of disruptions by promising autonomous industrial operations through connected cyber-physical systems and sensor data-driven decision analytics. Drones and robots play a significant role in dealing with open physical environments for achieving real-time awareness and automated control even in scenarios with great uncertainty. 3D printing promises software-like agility in industrial product lifecycle management by significantly accelerating design & production cycles.
All these are brining unit-based economics in industrial operations towards a machine-as-a-service business model that can provide real-time elasticity to supply-demand fluctuations, unit level customization, predictability in operations and higher asset efficiency.
Our panel of venture capitalists from global leaders in industrial verticals will discuss the crucial role of startups in realizing the grand vision of industrial IoT. The last 3 years have seen massive expansion in their digital teams, specially in the Bay Area. The panelists will discuss key challenges ahead in technology, adoption and business models, which open opportunities for startups to create disruptive innovations.
The panel will also throw more light on opportunities for startups to partner with large industrial giants and accelerate their scale of business.
