The digital revolution driven by the Internet of Things (IoT) is stretching the limits of information security by demanding the protection of billions of new connected endpoints. The scale and complexity of this challenge is unprecedented; as unlike enterprise and mobile endpoints, the volume of devices and applications far outnumber the number of users. Hence, there is a compelling need to build much smarter levels of automation in discovery, access management, authentication and endpoint security for the devices. There are also cost economics challenges associated with pricing, deployment and servicing the connected devices with security solutions; else securing IoT will not be feasible for operators and owners of the devices. Much like the deep shift in consumer behavior led by mobile devices, IoT devices are creating tectonic shifts in patterns of information flow, system access patterns and decision flows. Information security systems need to adapt to these new paradigms of information access and processing.

The panel draws deep subject matter expertise in security for IoT in industrial, commercial and consumer use-case deployments. The panelists will discuss the nuances of information security driven by the scale and complexities of IoT, as exposed during several security breaches in the recent past. The discussion will throw light into leading edge security systems being designed to address the new challenges. The panel will also discuss the role of various ecosystem players including OEMs, operates, cloud service providers and developers in securing IoT.
