SF Data Developers Meetup #1

Details
Our first meetup will coincide with the SF DataWeek Conference (http://dataweek.co/). Come join us at DataHero HQ for BBQ from Phat Matt's (http://www.yelp.com/biz/phat-matts-bbq-oakland-2), cold beers and hot lightning talks on developing data products.
Doors open at 6:00 pm and the talks will start at 7:00 pm:
Derek Steer, Mode Analytics (http://modeanalytics.com/)
Using Data Products to Build Data Products
Modern consumer web companies swear by their ability to wield data as a product development tool. In this day and age, the notion that a company would build a product without running a single A/B test is almost inconceivable. And yet, most companies building data products offer packaged software that must be installed behind the firewall, preventing user testing and iterative release schedules. Derek will discuss Mode's architecture within the context of the practicality and future of multi-tenant architectures for data products.
Islam Sharabash, DataHero (https://datahero.com)
The Magic of AsyncListener
DataHero is built atop Node.js, which has many advantages for data-centric applications, but also a number of challenges that stem from its asynchronous nature. Islam will talk about Node's AsyncListener API and how DataHero uses it to make it easier to debug complex workloads involving asynchronous database calls.
Josh Dzielak, Keen IO (http://keen.io)
Announcing common-web – Instant Web Analytics Powered By Keen
Developers use Keen IO to collect and analyze data from many sources. That said, some sources are more common than others, and web user activity is one of the most common sources of all. common-web is a new library from Keen that does the work of capturing and logging web user activity for you. Clicks, pageviews, and form submissions are logged as events, each with a healthy list of properties to slice and dice on. Josh will give a demo of common-web in action and show you how to add it to your site!
- Technically, this is our second event - check out details of the first one here (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/developing-for-a-data-driven-world-tickets-12495328865)
