I believe there is a genuine interest in the gay community for guys who are tired of the " same-ol' same-ol' " yet have very busy schedules such that they want to ensure that their social time is well spent. I believe there are guys out there, like myself, who want to make friends while doing things of fun and interest that are shared in common. I believe social interest groups are one of the best ways to meet guys for both friendships and potential mates.

SF/BAGM is undergoing some changes. Beginning January 1, 2010, new guidelines (located in the About section http://www.meetup.com/SF-Gay-Men/pages/SFBAGM_GUIDELINES/ will go into effect. Some may have noticed some changes already. Among these are making this a private group. That means I screen each and every guy before their membership is approved. This will be a group gay men join to actually get together offline and get to know one another eyeball to eyeball.

My name is Charlie. I took over as facilitator of this group on July 16. I've been planning and organizing events for many years. I love to explore and go to interesting places that are inexpensive and fun. While my plan is not to deviate too much for the former facilitator's theme for this group, I do expect to plan regular events. I live in Oakland so I will be likely to plan some events in the East Bay. I will do my best to find interesting venues in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area so everyone will have a chance a few times a year to do something near where they live.

In checking over the membership, I see we have quite a diverse group with many interests. We are also spread all over the Bay Area. Please feel free (new members as well as old) to send me your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, gripes, hopes, dreams, etc. for what you are hoping for out of this group. If you're single and looking for romance, I cannot promise you that, but I will do everything I can to create inviting events that will increase your chances to meet "Mr. Right". In the meantime, we'll all have a great time and build new friendships while exploring this remarkable geographic region in which we all have the privilege to live.
