First Homeless Innovation Hack Night!
Details
Hello Homeless Hackers! Tomorrow night, Wednesday, is our first monthly hack night in partnership with the Code for America SF Brigade. For those of you who missed our last general monthly Meetup on June 6th, we announced that thanks to Code for America, we'd be able to join forces with the CfA Brigade each third Wednesday of the month to work on very specific projects in service of the homeless in San Francisco.
Our members in attendance, and wonderful guest speakers offered the following list of projects as a starting point. Note that the following were written on the whiteboard that night, in no particular order. I've added the 'sponsor' for each program, for those I remember. If you submitted one that I didn't identify, please forgive my poor note taking and send me (Barry) a note to claim it so we can help shepherd it forward. And if you have another project that you'd like to work on, let us know!
SIMPLE - Chris Rico; MyHousing.org - Amy Golsong, PHC; Micro-grant site/service - Emily Cohen, PHC; Homeless game; Collaborative consumption & homelessness; Music for the soul; Job skills training at TechShop - Marc Roth; Housing waitlist tracking; PHC Daily Need re-tweet - Chrissy Farr, Project Albanybulb.org; LavaMae - Doniece Sandoval.
Lastly, an apology for the lateness of this notice. Rose and I have been consumed getting HandUp underway, but rest assured we're both committed to the great things we're all doing together with the SF Homeless Innovation Meetup. Hope to see you tomorrow!
