Thanks for the update. Am sure everything will work out. When one door closes, another one opens. I know it's cliche' but it's true.

The owner of the 50 Mason Social House, the bar where we've held our past two events, has unfortunately decided to pull the plug on SF Liberty Coalition. He told me that the bar had been getting busier and we simply weren't bringing in enough drink sales (there were maybe a dozen folks average at each event), and that he thought it was actually hurting their business because people coming by and seeing a speaking event going on might be deterred from just coming in and hanging out at the bar. This was very disappointing, as the space was almost perfect for us and I had told him we wanted to build a long-term relationship, but I can understand his perspective.

He was kind enough to reimburse me $80 toward the money I spent on getting 1500 postcards printed up that have the bar's name and location on them, and took me to visit oanther nearby bar, the City Pub, whose owner he said would welcome us in his space. I have yet to connect with that owner, who wasn't in when we stopped by, but I'm afraid it looks unlikely to work for our purposes. The bar, located just around the block from 50 Mason Social House, facing the plaza containing the Powell Street BART station, is again almost perfect in terms of location, but it just has one very large open space, and I'm skeptical that the owner would be willing to have us there doing a speaking event one evening a month which everyone in the space would hear.

Nevertheless I will follow up and see if that's the case. In the meantime however, I think we should plan on needing a new location, and actively look for one! It doesn't have to be a bar, though preferably it will be a space where food and drinks are served, or failing that, where we can bring in our own. A suitable location should also be free or at worst low cost, easily accessible, hold at least 30-40 people, and willing to guarantee us use of their space one evening a month on the same day/time each month for a speaker type event with either minimal background noise, or if there is background noise, a space that would have amplification available to us as 50 Mason Social House did.

Please contact me with any leads or ideas you may have!
