(Postponed from May to June)

We will continue our monthly technical get-together to discuss object-oriented programming, systems, languages, and applications.

Agenda Update:

No formal speaker this month (I'm looking for volunteers, suggestions). The current plan is just informal demos/discussions. Bring a laptop if you want to try things (WiFi will be available).

Some things that regular attendees have been exploring recently (possible subjects of discussion, demos, if there is interest):

  • DropWizard framework for developing hypermedia applications using Java, Jetty, Jersey, and Jackson. Add-ons: Collection+JSON media type/library. HAL - Hypertext Application Language

  • Docker (Linux Container Engine) for sharing incremental changes to VM images (e.g., push-to/pull-from central registry to run micro services in cloud nodes or local development systems)

  • NodeJS - server side JavaScript

  • AngularJS - HTML enhanced for web apps

  • RESTAngular - AngularJS service to handle Rest API Restful Resources properly and easily

  • Jenkins - extendable open source continuous integration server

  • Gitolite - personal git repo server

generally we have networking/food at 6pm and talks start at 6:30.

We wrap up by 8pm with a door prize raffle (e.g., an IntelliJ IDEA license)
