Hey guys -
I'm crossposting from another animal forum, just posted today. If anyone lives in an area (or has a friend with chickens that lives in an area) where roosters are okay, and can add 3 more chickens to your flock, please contact Nadine, below:

Hello fellow animal lovers,

I know my emails are usually about CATS who need help, but this time
it's chickens who need help. Sorry that this is OT for some of my lists
- so feel free to delete in that case.

A friend called me to tell me that a woman in San Bruno, who is leaving
the country next Tuesday, is desperately looking for a safe place for
her two (egg-laying) chickens and a rooster. She wants to be sure that
they do not end up being eaten, and is VERY worried about them. I
understand that she has a cage setup which would go with them.

Please forward this message as widely as possible to anyone who might be
able to give these animals a safe place to be.

If you can help, please CALL me at 415/846-1362 (cell) and leave a short
message if no answer. An alternative number is 415/519-7695 (leave a
message for Mary Ellen and Hernan). If you're interested, I can put you
in touch with the people themselves. Thanks so much!

Hey guys -
I just heard the great update! Here you go:

"Hello all you wonderful animal lovers,

Following up on my recent email pleading for help finding a good home
for two chickens and a rooster that a friend had called me about, I
wanted everyone to know the GREAT news, which is that Christine
Morrissey has offered to give the trio a lifelong home at Harvest Home
Animal Sanctuary in Stockton, and that Shani Campbell is going to be
picking them up and taking them to their new home tomorrow!

Thanks to Christine, and Shani, and Karin Olsson for forwarding the
email to Christine, and to all of you who make it possible to have
animal sanctuaries, and thanks to everyone who contacted me with
suggestions and offers; one kind person in San Rafael said she could
take the chickens, but not the rooster (city code prohibits roosters
there) -- and I was determined that even if we couldn't keep them
together, I wasn't going to let anything happen to the rooster. So I
was overwhelmed when I got Christine's email saying the sanctuary would
take all three!! What a relief for everyone involved!

And it turns out that their guardian, who has been trying to find a home
for them for months, does animal rescue work herself, and is actually
leaving to go to Guatemala to work at -- an animal rescue clinic there!
Now she can leave with worrying about her chickens and her rooster (all
rescued animals).

Thanks so much, everyone!!
