Why: Supports private movie screenings, Lecture Series events & speaker gifts
This is a great Meetup for seasoned globetrotters and armchair travelers alike! Our Travel Book Club discussions and Travel Lectures Series events feature books and speakers to inspire you if you are currently dreaming of "hitting the road" as well as provide necessary resources for planning and realizing that trip of a lifetime. Our focus is building a community of travel enthusiasts from around the Bay Area so we can all share resources, contacts, ideas and inspiration in support of each other's travel dreams!
Are you planning to hit the road soon and looking for been-there-done-that savvy and tips from fellow wanderers? Are you just back from an amazing journey and looking to share your stories with like-minded travel junkies? If so, this is the place for you!
Our Book Club generally meets on the first Wednesday of every month at a local Books, Inc. location. Lecture Series events will be scheduled according to speakers' availability.
Upcoming Book Club titles include You Can't Get There from Here by Gayle Forman, Dear American Airlines by Jonathan Miles and Travel as a Political Act by Rick Steves.
Lecture Series speakers have included Rolf Potts (author of Vagabonding: An Uncommon Guide to the Art of Long-term World Travel), Franz Wisner (author of Honeymoon with My Brother), Lavinia Spalding (author of Writing Away: A Creative Guide to Awakening the Journal-Writing Traveler), and Stephanie Elizondo Griest (author of Around the Bloc: My Life in Moscow, Beijing and Havana). Also, if you have enjoyed SF Travel Book Club and Lectures Series events, please consider making a donation to our group! In addition to funding from our corporate sponsor, Three Month Visa Coaching and Consulting (http://www.threemonthvisa.com), we are a member-supported group and your generous donations help us arrange Lecture Series events, purchase speaker gifts, etc. Support in any amount is gratefully welcomed and can be sent via PayPal to trussell@threemonthvisa.com
