High-Performance Mobile

With the growing popularity of the mobile web, chances are that you are or will be building a web application targeting tablets or smart phones. David Calhoun will join us for our February meetup to share web performance optimizations and techniques specific to mobile devices.

David Calhoun is a frontend engineer working for Yahoo! in Sunnyvale, and until recently was working on the Mobile team. He has a passion for all things frontend in general. He maintains a developer blog at davidbcalhoun.com and can be reached through Twitter (@franksvalli).

The event is hosted at CBS Interactive on Wednesday, February 16th, 2011 at 7PM. Doors open at 6:30PM. As usual, food & drinks are courtesy of Yammer (thanks!). We will be streaming and recording the presentation on ustream.tv.

Agenda:

* 19:00 :: Introductions & Presentation
* 20:00 :: Questions and Answer & Open Form

We are a next generation web acceleration CDN and technology platform backed by Top tier VCs. I'm looking for 3 Sales Engineers or Web Performance consultants to join my team. I can be reached at Leeor@cotendo.com. Shoot me a note so we can meetup if this sounds interesting or you want to learn more about these positions.

    Hello,

    This seems very relevant to our discussion about mobile web performance. Jdrop: a way to gather data on the mobile device but analyze it remotely. Steve Sounders describes it well here: http://www.stevesouders.com/blog/2011... . A few other terms that David Calhoun mentioned in his talk are referenced here as well, including pcapperf, Mobile Perf bookmarkelet, and DOM Monster.

    If you are interested in realtime page speed testing or server-side content routing, ping me. As I mentioned last night, we are seeing very large differences in mobile and non-mobile delivery speed when we do timings based on actual browsers.
