Among the most popular sites, it is the only one run transparently by a non-profit organization that publishes source code and server configurations, welcoming forks and patches. Wikipedia's unique community collaboration model empowers volunteers to write encyclopedias, as well as content, templates, and gadgets that could put powerful processors and browsers under stress.
