Overview:

Performance is a hot topic, but a lot of people are not even sure where to start or what to do. Not surprisingly, automated performance has been a growing space in our community.

This panel discussion will focus on the current state-of-affairs in web and mobile performance optimization, the role of automated optimizations, and future trends in this area. Ted Middleton is VP of Product Management at Edgecast Networks (http://www.edgecast.com/). He coordinates the definition, development, and launch of EdgeCast products and services and is also involved in the identification, evaluation, and integration of partner technologies and services to complement the EdgeCast portfolio.

Guy Podjarny (Guypo) is the CTO and co-founder of Blaze (http://www.blaze.io). Guy is the creator of Mobitest (http://blaze.io/mobile), a mobile performance measurement tool, and a contributor to HTTP Archive Mobile (http://mobile.httparchive.org/) and WebPageTest (http://www.webpagetest.org/). Guy is also a researcher of mobile web performance optimizations, maintains the Blaze blog (http://blaze.io/blog), and a frequent presenter in security and performance events.

Stoyan Stefanov ( http://phpied.com , @stoyanstefanov (http://twitter.com/#!/stoyanstefanov)) is a Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/facebook) engineer. Previously at Yahoo! he was the creator of the smush.it (http://www.smushit.com/ysmush.it/) online image optimization tool and architect of YSlow 2.0 (http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/). performance tool. Book author (JavaScript Patterns, Object-Oriented JavaScript), contributor (Even Faster Web Sites, High-Performance JavaScript) and speaker (Velocity, JSConf, Fronteers, Ajax Experience).
