This is a great meetup for young professionals who enjoy reading and building a sense of community! I recently moved back to the Bay Area and am very excited to meet fellow book lovers. Below is a little about me and the gist of the book club...

           I grew up in the Bay Area and went to school at Cal. After sitting through too many hour long lectures on Marx and Durkheim I finally graduated and have since enjoyed basking on the beaches of New Zealand, hiking around Colorado, and living at a zen center in New Mexico. While I'm hoping to leave for Peace Corps West Africa in a year, I'm so excited to be back in the Bay Area... Surely, one of the most special places on earth. Some of my favorite things to do in SF are attending dance classes, playing soccer, hiking, exploring "Best of the Bay" restaurants, listening to travel tales at the SF Travel Book Club, photography Meetups, and volunteering with Streetside Stories. I also very recently started a new weekly Meetup, http://www.meetup.com/Live-Your-Dreams-SF-M..., and would love company!

          Our first book will be Life of Pi by Yann Martel which I'm hoping will stimulate some lively conversation. To give you a feel for the book club some future reads I have in mind are: Blindness by Saramago, A Place to Stand: The Making of a Poet -Baca, Stones Into Schools -Mortenson, The Best American Short Stories 2010 -Russo, Getting Stoned with Savages: A Trip Through the Islands of Fiji and Vanuatu -Troost, On Love: A Novel -Alain de Botton...

         The plan is to meet at 6:30pm on the first Tuesday of every month at the Crepe House in the Mission (BART accessible). Please feel free to contact me with questions, book suggestions or ideas for how to make this Meetup work for you.
