When Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.

The movie is rated PG. We will not be seeing it in IMAX or 3D.

UPDATE (PLEASE READ):

We'll be attending the 4:15 PM (non-IMAX, non-3D) showtime. You may wish to save time and ensure your spot by buying your tickets online here (http://goo.gl/R0mvy) (in case the link says the showtime is no longer available, just select "Saturday, Mar. 9, 2013" and the 4:15 showtime and it should work). Fandango does charge a convenience fee, but you can waive it by using the following AMC Stubs #:1103000001444078. (Note: I know there were some problems retrieving tickets that were bought this way in the past, but we've ironed them out. Just bring the credit card you used to pay for the ticket and you'll be all set, whether you use an automated kiosk or a teller). We'll be going to Ted's Montana Grill (http://www.tedsmontanagrill.com/menu/download/TMG-T3-TTT_Menu.pdf) for dinner following the movie. If you plan to attend, you must RSVP separately for March's Dinner (no reading required!) (https://www.meetup.com/SFFBookClub/events/101502312/).

We ask that you please meet up with the group before the movie so we can accurately take attendance. If you arrive before 3:45 PM, we'll be standing downstairs near the escalators (in front of the ticket line and automated ticket machines). After that prior to the showtime, we'll start saving seats (to the extent we can for a group this big) and you can meet us right outside the entrance to our theatre room. If you arrive late, we'll re-congregate after the movie immediately outside our theatre room before walking over to the restaurant.

We do ask that if you attend a movie screening with us, that you please refrain from talking loudly during the movie or disrupting the experience for other guests. We want everyone in the group to be able to hear and enjoy their movie experience, and we also would like to maintain a positive relationship with the theatre, so your cooperation is appreciated. There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss the movie during dinner.

Please update your RSVP and guestcount if you will not be attending!
