Explore Gold Canyon from Big Tujunga

The challenging part of the trail to locate will be the segment that ascends to Yerba Buena ridge from the canyon floor. If we make it there, it'll be a pleasant stroll down fire roads to the main road, then a little road-walking to get to our cars. 8 miles, 2000' gain.

This used to be hike #8 in Robinson's Trails of the Angeles, but it's been replaced with a visit to the same canyon from the Little Tujunga side (which, by the way, contains the mines that gave this canyon its name). I'll schedule that one soon, I think.

If it doesn't work out, and we need a longer hike, we'll hike Gold Canyon Rd, but only after giving the canyon trail our best shot.
