Beyond the bridge to nowhere, East fork to Iron fork to Ross gulch.
Details
According to John Robinson, there is a mine in Ross Gulch at the bottom of a waterfall where the gulch intersects Iron Fork. The mine is called the Short and Ross. We will fasttrack to the bridge and head into the narrows. From there, we will head up to Iron Fork. Given the status of the water levels this year, we will probably stay dry to the bridge, after that, we will have to get wet. Ive been to the trail camp at Iron fork, its kind of flintstone-like, and if you drop down from there, there are some nice swimming holes. That is the farthest Ive been there, from that point it will be exploratory, but from what Ive seen, we may want to bring machetes and good pruners. Im starting early because I cant schedule as an overnite, so this will be a long dayhike, it is almost 7 miles just to Iron fork, and ross gulch, according to the maps, is about a 3 quarter to a mile bushwack, if not more, hopefully less, please dont sign up if you cannot commit yourself for the entire day, as this hike will be long and may take all day. ( to those who just think they can sign up just to do the bridge, please dont). Im obsessed with seeing what is up there so I hope that everybody that signs up is likeminded.
I do have a filter, so bring enough water to get you to the bridge, but dont go overboard, I plan on filtering along the way, and since there is water there, we dont need to pack too much, just let me know if you need it and Ill filter it for you. But please bring enough food for your requirements.
Stats:
Approx. total mileage: 14-17
Approx gain: 1500-1900
Elevation gain should be minimal, the hard part will be the bushwacking to our goal.
Ill keep updating this hike until the posted date, I look foward to everybodys input
