a loop trip to Mt Lukens from Deukmejian Park

We start by going up the steep Crescenta View Trail on the east side of Dunsmuir Cyn (volunteers have recently fixed this trail up beautifully), and then onto the Mt Lukens Fire Road to the peak (Mt Lukens, the transmission-tower-adorned high point of LA City at 5074'); descent will be along the Haines Cyn Fire Road, until we get to the Rim of the Valley Tr that leads back to our starting point. This should be 8 miles and 3000' feet of gain. (UPDATE: it is possible this will be as long as 10 miles, estimates vary.)
