WELCOME!

Our events are for all us singles who want to GET OUT and have some FUN! We are about expanding our circle of friends, meeting new single people and venturing on exciting activities along with good company.  Not that we don't love our couple friends too, but they always have to leave early (or can't come at all) because of XY and Z.  This group is for those of us who have more free time and want to make some new friends while having some FUN! There are more of us single people in the bay area than you think, so leave all your couple friends at home and come out for some FUN with us!  We're your people :)

If your social life is a lot of dating then the recession probably has cut that back a bit...it's expensive!  Our events are NOT expensive, or dates! We do that purposefully. It doesn't have to cost a lot to have a good time, and you don't have to be on a date to meet someone new. An afternoon in the park with a Frisbee, some fun singles, sunshine, and a potluck dish is an inexpensive, casual and above all FUN day out! Sound good to you too?

We aren't just about the usual happy hour in a bar shouting to each other over a drink, I mean we aren't 22 anymore, right? :) Our philosophy is to spend a little of our time/effort/creativity to plan quality events worthy of sharing our precious free time together. Meetup is just how we're introduced, the fun happens once you show up. So do something for yourself, be brave, don't just lurk, come and have some FUN! Come join us!

Some things we Love: potlucks, game nights, improv/comedy shows, beach bonfires, picnics,  concerts in the parks, street festivals, Wii tournaments, movies: in theaters, our homes, SF Film Festivals, and midnight showings, live music (local open mike nights, Karaoke, stadium tours), riding/walking over the Golden Gate, Giants games, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, photography walks, golfing: mini/driving range, our book club, Groupon deals, new restaurants, HGTV crafting parties, our walking group, SF & SJ Symphonies, brunches, culinary classes, art exhibits, theater/plays, wine tastings, bowling, sushi happy hours, geocaching, road trips, camping, biking, Tahoe weekends, nature hiking: city, state, national parks, redwoods/beaches/Lands End, urban hikes about the city, sailing, SCUBA, kayaking, ballooning, poker/casino night, catching the game at a sports bar, lectures, biking in Marin, strolling SF's great Vintage/Consignment shops, horse-back riding, greening projects with Rebuild It Together, canoeing with Save the Bay, salsa/swing classes, skiing/boarding, ice skating, micro brew/sake tours, zip lining, ping-pong, the horse track races, kite flying at Berkeley marina, the occasional quirky road trip destination (Winchester Mystery House, Mystery Spot, Pez museum, Pinball Museum).

Our Annual Events: We always have Superbowl, Oscar, Halloween, & NYE parties!, 4th of July Fireworks, Union Street Festival, Artichoke festival, Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, SF Restaurant Week, Weekend in Tahoe (split a cabin & carpool), Bay to Breakers, Napa wine tasting train, Mavericks surf competition, Butterfly migration at Big Sur, White Party fundraiser, Springtime at SF Zoo, Black & White ball.

House rules (No worries...they're EASY):
1.Three strikes and you are out. It's a bummer but there are a lot of flakes on Meetup, 50% turn out is not uncommon in some groups, and that's just not cool when people are wait listed. So flake on your group three times and we'll be forced to give you the boot. Don't make us do it!!! It's easy, if you can't come, change your RSVP and BE KIND to your friends who want to go! We want our flake factor to equal zero!
2. Profile pic/First name required. We like to see your face, it helps a lot when finding each other at events, and for re-connecting with new friends afterwards.  It's too hard to remember names...faces are easier. :)  So please upload a clear head shot where you don't look like the unabomber :)
3. Events cost $3-5 bucks. Why? In short admin fees and incidentals.  Meetup charges an organizer fee ($288/year), and we've also got little hosting costs like name tags, prizes, garbage bags, etc for cleaning up after ourselves, balloons/signs, plastic & paper ware, you get the idea. We aren't making money off you, lol. We run this group because we want to, because it's fun, it's not paying for our vacation home in Costa Rica that we don't have :)
4. Be single, in your 30-40s, and have a smile :)  We work hard to make our group FUN, have members respect one another, and have a good time.  So if you are kind of rude, a complainer, get drunk, annoy members, chase too much tail, have a reputation for not being friendly, are a flake, or you are secretly married or part of a committed relationship, you will be kindly asked to move on.  Our standards are meant to keep it FUN and positive, so lets get on with the good stuff!

*Caveat* While we are mostly singles we do have a handful of couples amongst us who've been grandfathered in because they were single when they joined up.  Also, there are a small handful of folks in their late 20's early 50's because...well, there's no need to be too strict right?  We're here for FUN!

The first meetup is the hardest, once you come out and realize it's really FUN our return rate is super high.  It's getting you guys past the first one!  :)  We all come by ourselves the first time, and then see a couple familiar faces the second and third, and then it's you're a regular VIP and making another newbie's first time easier.  So don't let a month go by before you come out to meetup.  Jump right in and make a friend and have some FUN doing it!  See you soon! :)
