Lightroom 4 New Features, Photoshop Plug-ins from Alien Skin Software

We will have two speakers for this meeting. One will be Sharad Mangalick, Lightroom Product Manager, talking about new features available in the 4.1 and 4.2 versions of Lightroom. These include tone mapping of 32-bit HDR images, new controls for eliminating chromatic aberration, new camera support, etc.

Our other speaker will be Jeff Butterworth, the founder of Alien Skin Software. He will give an overview of some of their products, such as Exposure 4, Snap Art 3, Blow Up 3, and Bokeh 2, including many before/after sample images. You can find out about their Photoshop plug-ins, along with lots of examples and videos, at www.alienskin.com.

We'll have pizza and drinks at 6:30, and the meeting will start at 7:00, in the Park Conference Room of Adobe Systems' East Tower, 345 Park Avenue, San Jose.

To park underneath the Adobe building, use the Almaden Avenue entrance, under the East Tower. If the security guard at the parking entrance asks for an Adobe contact, use Stephen Nielson's name.

See you there!

Alien Skin was poorly presented. I suspect there were many cool things it could do he didn't cover. Only 2-3 people said they did graphic design, but he spent 10-15 minutes on the design oriented Eye Candy. Spent the rest of the time on Exposure, but only really showed film emulations. Did not seem at all well prepared. He missed a great opportunity, especially now Google has bought Nik. There was very little info presented by Adobe: only one new minor feature in v4.1 (chromatic aberration eyedropper) and NO new changes to v4.2 (other than performance). Couldn't Adobe have presented something useful to fill the time: tip and tricks, suggestions, etc? Adobe does so many cool things, yet little of interest was shown in the meeting. Program was way too short. It lasted just over one hour and was hardly worth the drive from East Bay. Why so short?? Pizza was the best part of the program.

More time to go through examples would be great or post them on the website.

This one came off kinda flat. LR 4 has been out for quite a while and I suspect that most are familiar with it. Probably more time should have been allotted to Alien Skin that LR.

Would like to go but it's difficult to reach during the week at that time when there's still rush hour traffic, unless you're already in downtown.

Are there recordings of these talks (even audio-only would be better than nothing) as others have inquired?

    Or events at other times?

Will this be recorded for future viewing?
I happen to have conflict the same time.

Do you mean when you sign in with Security, in the lobby? If so, that'd be Stephen Nielson.
