How familiar are you with Eckhart Tolle's teachings? What do you enjoy most about them?

I just discovered him a few months ago.I like how he restates the core of Buddhism, Gnosticism, and other major beliefs in a modern idiom. He makes it so simple (and therefore equally difficult!) and so gives no excuses for not trying to get it right

What are your views on the value of groups gathering to learn/meditate from Eckhart Tolle and similar individuals?

Alas, the flesh is weak. Support in a difficult endeavor such as spiritual growth is a great help.

Are there other teachers or resources that you would suggest for the group?

Everyone everywhere can be your teacher, from the guy cutting you off in traffic, to the lady talking to herself behind you in line. I LOVE anything translated by Stephen Mitchel.

What kind of impact--if any--have the teachings of Eckhart Tolle made in your life?

Reading (over and over) Tolle's writings are reinforcement for what I want to be. A constant reminder for someone with a weak mind.

Please provide any other information here that you want to share with the group.

Introduction

Hi, finally getting around to this. Here are some of the superficialities that society thinks defines me (?)!!!! I am a mom, an artist, and a want-to-be musician. Always looking for the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

What Liz is saying about this Meetup Group

I almost didn't go, so glad I did! I Definitely plan to go again! Great group of people, lively conversation, This was a very refreshing meetup! I am also glad we are only doing one chapter at a time, I am busy and don't have time to digest a whole book like this in one gulp.
