This a group dedicated to exploring Vancouver Island by sea kayaking and hiking. This is a non-club with no insurance and minimal overhead. Bring your own kayak, hiking boots, common sense, responsibility for your own safety, enthusiasm and contribute your own unique skills, talents, adventure stories and favourite pot luck dishes.

Members signing up for trips are expected to be able to paddle 10 - 15 km per day at a pace of 4 km per hour and have adequate kayaking equipment and clothing. A Paddle Canada Level 1 or 2 sea kayaking course is highly recommended.

"There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do."

Spoken by Ratty to Mole in Wind in the Willows a children's book by Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932).

SKUNCS: "We stink, but we have fun!'
