Pt Mugu State Park Trail Restoration

Details
The trails of Pt. Mugu State Park (Sycamore Canyon) are in dire need of our help! Because the Springs Fire of May 2013 burned all the chaparral and some of the large trees throughout the park, the plant roots that normally hold the soil together were destroyed. Without this support, the heavy rains in December 2014 resulted in large mudslides in the park, burying some of the trails and impacting almost all of them. The photo below shows the main Sycamore Canyon Fireroad covered with dirt and rocks from a mudslide.
Because of budget cutbacks, the park agencies rely on volunteers to help keep the trails in good shape.
Join the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council and the Concerned Off-Road Bicyclists Association (CORBA) as we head into Point Mugu State Park (Sycamore Canyon) to help restore the Wood Canyon Vista Trail (http://www.venturacountytrails.org/TrailMaps/Sycamore/AreaTrails.htm#WoodCanyonVistaTrail) segment of the Backbone Trail.
We'll be clearing debris off the trail and restoring the drainages to help preserve the trail from future rainfalls.
