Design & Develop Using Statecharts

  • Feb 4, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • Citrix

In this talk, Design & Develop using Statecharts, Manuel Kreutz from ISPRIME will share how his team and he have been successfully using Statecharts to build User Interfaces & Applications, by focusing on the individual states the user and application are in.

Manuel will go over the following points:

- what Statecharts are
- the benefits of using them to build products of any size
- how they make focusing on a great User Experience easier
- structure & build Applications using them
- archive easier to maintain Projects and Software Code bases
- create and use a Statechart using the JavaScript programming language

Examples will be using the Javascript programming language but you are not required to have any Javascript experience and can also use Statecharts in other languages or even on paper to design products. Statecharts can be used to design and develop any kind of system that responds to external events like website gadgets, user interfaces, web & GUI applications, operating systems, missile systems, mobile phones etc.

The talk will be a combination of general introduction and some hands on examples for web application developers. If you have any questions or would like to see something covered please let us or him know!

I think that is an excellent idea! We did have access to webex last time at citrix, but it was last minute. I will see what I can do to post an online option.

Thank you Lauren for hosting this! I hold a similar talk on the subject a couple weeks ago at the LAB Miami, which I kept mostly non-technical and high level. I intend to make this more hands on to show how it looks in action and how to get started with new and existing projects, but I would love to hear feedback on the level and possible scenarios everyone would like to see, since the talk is of course about how you benefit from it! I will do my best to show the benefits and use cases to you as a product architect, project manager, web designers or developer and how it will make your job and focusing on user experience easier. I personally use statecharts in a few client side web application projects right now, where most of the process is done using code. Looking forward to meeting everyone there!
