Meetup starts at 6:30pm, with 30 minutes of social time. Beginning at 7pm, Amos King (https://twitter.com/adkron) will give a presentation on the Tessel (https://tessel.io/), a microcontroller that runs JavaScript:

“Bring your hardware to hack. If you have any thing that works on 3.3v we should be able to use it. We can also work off of 5V depending on how we power the Tessel, but 3.3V is safe. Bring old toys that have motors, sensors, leds. We might be able to use them. I am bringing 7 tessels and some modules plus a few fun things to play with.

“The Tessel brings the event driven callbacks of the real world to the event driven callbacks of javascript. Node compatibility and wifi on board make this device perfect for ubiquitous computing ideas to be brought to life. Have you ever wanted your toaster connected to the web? I haven't either, but there are plenty of other ideas I've had in mind. Put a ble (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_low_energy) device on your dog and have him/her tweet every time she is close to home. These are just a few ideas, but what can you come up with?

“I will share some of the things that I have done, and some background on the Tessel. Then we will dive into a hack session and see what we can come up with in small groups. I do not work for Technical Humans, but I love hardware and I love this platform.”

After the presentation, there will random drawings for three Amazon.com $100 gift cards, courtesy of Accelebrate, one of the evening's sponsors. Accelebrate offers private, on-site AngularJS training (https://www.accelebrate.com/angularjs-training).

Pushup Social will be sponsoring complementary sodas and sandwiches, and you're welcome to BYOB, so come hungry, come thirsty, bring your laptop and be ready to code!
