Monthly Ember.js Meetup - Advanced Ember and Ember Jeopardy!

Important note! STL Ember.js is the SECOND Monday for June instead of the first Monday, because Second Street is hosting the Promotions Summit on the first Monday of June.

Get together with local Ember.js users to get to know what's new in the Ember ecosystem, and each other.

6:00–6:25 Meet & Greet: Social time - Network, introduce yourself, and have fun!

6:30–6:55 Presentation: Advanced Ember: Services, Dependency Injection, and Component Collaboration

7:00–7:25 Game: Ember Jeopardy!

7:30–Whenever Hack Together: Experiment with the material that has been presented, bring your own project, or maybe we'll even work on Ember.js itself!

Advanced Ember: Services, Dependency Injection, and Component Collaboration

Blake Mills will be presenting on some of the more advanced parts of Ember.js you may find useful when building large applications. A walk through of an example implementation of a user permissions system will take you on a tour of: Services, an easy way to use singleton objects to manage third-party or application state; Dependency Injection, which Ember uses internally but exposes for you to make your services available to routes, controllers, and more; and Component Collaboration, the useful new way to have your components work together to bring advanced functionality to the declarative world of Handlebars.

Ember Jeopardy!

Kerrick Long will be hosting a game of Ember Jeopardy! This quiz game, like the TV show, will stretch your knowledge and test your recollection. With academic categories such as "Views," "The Router," and "Ember-Handlebars," as well as community-oriented categories like "Contributing" and "Culture," you're sure to learn something new. Plus, prizes will be awarded!

The STL Ember.js meetup is hosted by Second Street. We're at 11th & Olive downtown, in the historic Laclede Gas Light building. Come in the door with the black awning, and we're the first door on the left!

If you're driving, St. Louis City metered parking is free after 7pm. Alternatively, we're only a few blocks away from the 8th & Pine MetroLink Station.

We're currently looking for a food sponsor! If you or your company sponsors food for the meetup, you will receive recognition on the STL Ember.js meetup page, in any emails and descriptions about the meetups you sponsor, and at the meetup itself. Please get in touch to become a sponsor today!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
