Family Friendly Firearms Training

This is one in a series of small scale and personable firearms classes that is geared toward families, couples and singles that have little or no experience with gun culture. Unlike most of our other meetups we will be limiting the group size to 12 people total for each session. Each session will be made up of the same basic information. In a quiet classroom setting we will teach basics for about and hour or so and then for the following two hours we will go into the range and shoot each of the weapons that have been presented to the class.

This is a basic summary of what each class will consist of :

* The Power of " No. " - Survival Psychology in relation to the use of firearms

* Gun safety practices - what to do and what not to do when handling firearms to prevent unintended injury and death.

* Gun law in  Pa, NJ,and De - sorting facts from rumors, looking at federal laws now and later

* Exploring different weapon platforms - Pistols (revolvers/semiautos) , Rifles ( bolt action/semiauto), Shotguns ( long & short )

* Understanding ammunition - strengths and weaknesses of various calibers and powder packs, the amazing selection of shotgun ammo to be found

* Proper footing, posture, hand and eye placement for good shooting results

* How to acquire proper sight alignment and hit what you aim for

* Dealing with weapon jams on semi autos for rifles and pistols

* How to sweep and clear rooms of predators and the best ways to employ a flashlight with guns

Then we will go into the range and get in a good couple hours of practice with the weapons demonstrated. Eye and ear protection will be provided, ammunition and targets as well. Hands on instruction will be ever present.

We will provide a variety of firearms that are suited for every age, body type and capability.

The weapons and instructors are donated to you for free out of a simple love and respect for humanity. The range, ammo, targets and eye/ear protection will cost each participant $40.00 in Federal Reserve Notes which is due at the beginning of each class offered.

Children of and age and ability to PAY ATTENTION AND TAKE THE SUBJECT SERIOUSLY are welcome and in fact are at the core of our planning efforts. Ages 8 and up are our preferred student ages. All of our instructors are seasoned parents and/or well suited to deal patiently with beginners.

So that we may all use the donated time and effort efficiently, please arrive on time.

This will be a fun and friendly event that will soberly deal with deadly serious subject matter.

Today was the most amazing day! Thanks to Fernando, I learned how to over come my fear of guns. I have a new found respect, and learned basic safety training with the Survive and Thrive meet up. Stacey and I had a great time and plan to be back to learn new skills and support the group. Thanks for the love and for sharing your vision with the meet up group Fernando. Be blessed and stay safe!

The group I mentioned today is called NWTF Women in the Outdoors. Here is the link for the website, and they have programs in different states.

Well I must say this was an excellent meet up. The valuable training over exceeded my expectations for a beginners family friendly firearms training. Fernando and his crew were extremely knowledgeable regarding numerous types of hand guns, rifles. And the laws for Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
I never expected to be able to try first hand so many different guns. It was a little scary at first because it was loud, but after a few minutes my body adjusted to the loud pops. Oh we had been given top quality ear and eye protection which was included in the $40.00 price, a real deal. You would pay 3x -5x more for the training i received today.

I was thrilled to shoot the Mossberg 500 which many friends and family suggested I purchase as a first home defense firearm.

Thank You Fernando for sharing your time, talent and love for humanity with us. I also met a bunch of nice women at this meet up.

I inherited several firearms years ago, but I have no knowledge of guns. Today was a GODSEND. Great to get so much down to earth knowledge. Thank you Sooooo much fernando and ken. Today was one of the usuall eclectic, captivating, and always useful Survive and Thrive experiences that I love. It was AWESOME to get to use the variety of guns as well. Revolvers to glocks...to A.Rs and shotguns. Fernando even instructed me on the guns i had at home. These meetups always feel like family and friends all around. Thanx!!

Excellent meetup today! As someone with literally no firearms experience whatsoever, I found this meetup to be extremely helpful. Fernando and Ken provided valuable knowledge on safety, laws in PA and NJ and expertise on a variety of different firearms ranging from various types of handguns to muzzleloaders to combat rifles. They were fun, friendly and patient. It was a amazing experience and the fact that I was able to try out so many different firearms was extremely helpful for me in making a decision in what type of firearm I feel most comfortable with and would like to purchase. The staff at Colosimo's Target Range was great as well, providing assistance to many of the beginners as well! I HIGHLY recommend this meetup!! Thank you so much Fernando and Ken for an awesome day today!

This was my first meet up and it was awesome. My 13 year old son and myself had virtually no firearms experience and after spending half the day on the range, I can say I am feeling pretty confident. I certainly would recommend this. It was very safe and the instructors were very knowledgeable and passionate about what they were doing.

Another AWESOME meetup! Fernando and Ken shared their knowledge and experience with the group in the classroom session, then carefully paid attention to monitor how everyone was proceeding through the range stations. We got to experience a wide variety of firearms. This was most certainly a warm and personable family friendly and newbie friendly experience that I would recommend to anyone who wishes to learn about firearms and firearm safety.

Phenomenal. Fernando and Ken were very knowledgeable and professional. They gave a comfortable and concise presentation about such a serious subject. They were willing to answer all questions and, with Jason's help, closely supervised all of the attendees at the target range.

Absolutely EXCELLENT! Could be happier about this meetup. Fernando is an excellent instructor that answered all questions but kept the class moving forward. I believe the class was double than what Fernando was expecting but he managed the crowd well and made sure everyone had a chance to fire a weapon and was very hands on with the instructions. I learned a lot from Ken the assistant instructor as well. Overall it was an excellent experience with a great group of people that also attended the meetup.

The training went really well. It went longer than I anticipated but I'm not complaining because I got plenty of time on the range. I got to fire several different guns and learned a lot about them. Great event!

Very informative, instructors went quite in depth on the subject. Much better than just going to a gun range by yourself, because they gave you background info on the different guns, as well as provided many to try out and test on the range. This was our first class with this group, and am looking forward to being able to attend more in the future! Thank you again!

There are already 15 people attending, so I assume that means this time is filled? The description says that it will be a series, so will there be other dates offered, or is it all the same date, but sessions at different times?
