President's Volunteer Challenge
We have several events between now and the end of October. Some of them are already full, some are waitlisted, but a few still have openings for volunteers.
I am challenging SVTC volunteers to fill all of the events between now and the end of October. Once filled, I will confirm attendance with leaders to determine whether every SVTC volunteer event between today and the end of October has a full complement of volunteers.
If every event is completed with a full complement of volunteers, all of the SVTC members who participated in those events will be invited to a pizza party at my home in South Minneapolis the second weekend of November.
Check the calendar now and make sure you're signed up to volunteer!Unofficial events
The following volunteer opportunities are not included in the volunteer challenge above. These are volunteer opportunities that either came to our attention too late or don't fit SVTC requirements for official events. Keep in mind that SVTC is only committed to providing voluneers for the events posted on our calendar.
Please contact these organizations directly if you would like to volunteer on your own, but please let them know you heard about it through SVTC.Saturday, Oct 23rdFalls4All
8 volunteers, 530pm to ?
Falls 4 All (www.falls4all.com) is planning a Halloween party fundraiser(October 23). We are working in conjunction with the Minneapolis Park and Rec Board and the People for Parks (a 501 C 3).
Our mission is to create a playground that will allow children and adults, both with and without disabilities, a place to challenge themselves, explore, interact and play, with independence and dignity, as a group and as individuals.
We are planning this playground at Minnehaha Falls and it will benefit families in many ways, as this is a regional destination for day picnics and reunions.
Please let me know if you can help me out with as few as 8 volunteers. Our event starts at 6 PM on October 23, so we would LOVE volunteers to arrive by 5:30 for training on how to assist the action and food chairs. I can provide any other information you require. The volunteers would be allowed to bid on auction, help themselves to food and stay to dance to the live music after auction closes. Costumes would be encouraged, but not required.

4 volunteers from 4 to 11pm
This is an event to raise money to fund programs for Art, Math, Reading, and Career development in the St. Louis Park Public Schools that would not be otherwise funded. The event is at Perspectives kids cafe kitchen.
Now for the fun part. This fundraiser is a cooking class/dinner with wine and beer. We will have about 65 people at a sit down dinner and we will have 5-10 people in the kitchen and serving.
We could use another 4 volunteers to work in the kitchen/ clean up. Free food, beer and wine would be included for our volunteers. We have done this before and it is a really fun event for volunteers.
Details are included on this web site: http://www.slppsf.org/Park_after_dark_event.html
