Joe McMahon of White Hat Security,

"We all strive to have our software be the best it can be, and in that process, we have to exercise our judgement of what to do, when to do it, and how. We'll talk about a surprising bad example and its ramifications, then look at how the associated minor catastrophes can be avoided when you need to take a similar step."

There was a lot of insightful discussion around the case study of WWW::Mechanize.

Sorry about that. I've been a bit busy. In answer to your question, the SVPerl group does welcome new programmers. Specifically regarding automatation, we have had a few presentations on that topic. A number of our members are veterans of automated testing. If you are learning Perl, then a good book to start would probably be "Modern Perl" or "Learning Perl". If you have even less time, you might try this intro, http://qntm.org/files/perl/perl.html

    Hi Lambert,

I am trying to learn Perl for automating tasks. Would this meetup be a good one to attend?

    Thanks,
    Paula
