Subject: [nightlife-882] CHAPS food pantry

Debbie Amico and I are on the board for the CHAPS food pantry. First, I want to thank you guys for supporting our events. I did get email from a few members who would like to help us, and we need you! Please email to me your name, address, phone and email address. I will pass it to our volunteer coordinator to add you to our data base. Usually you'll be asked to help 2 hrs at an event- passing out info, helping at our upcoming yard sale etc. It would be super duper if you could give us the name etc of 2 of your friends who would like to assist us as well (please confirm with them first!). We really need to get more people involved. FYI The website is CHAPS feeds local families who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
Thank you Arthur for being our meetup up go-to guy at our fundraisers. We are grateful to have a member volunteer to 'hold down the fort' while Deb and I work an event.
Debbie is amazing. Debbie goes into the field. She delivers food to people who are terminal. She takes food into neighborhoods that we would not want to drive through never mind stop in and visit. These people want to work. They can't. The break down of their immune systems makes it impossible. Many of them are victims through blood transfusions. Most are 'regular' family members - mom, dad, grandma and grandpa and infected children. The victims are not all gay. They are not all IV drug users. It's not the stereotype you might think it is.
The pantry gives them hygiene products too- things we take for granted like toilet paper and toothpaste.
Next: My facebook friends and family have to hear me daily as I harass them to donate to the WINK walk for hunger. Here's my link I am at $710 with a $1000 goal. I am $290 away! If you can donate any amount from $5 to $290 it would be fantastic! The link allows you to pay through paypal or mail a check. The walk is in Jan and is posted on meetup. We get Harry Chapin's $6 for $1 deal if you donate to the walk in my name. That means if you donate $10, we can buy $60!! When I reach my goal of $1000 we can buy $6000 worth of food and I'll quit bugging you guys!!!
Thank you for your generosity and Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year!
