Hi!

If you're looking for a place to learn and/or share knowledge about Android development, then this is the place for you. We are a group of both professional developers and hobbyists alike that share experiences on Android development.

A place for experts...

If you've been coding in Android for a while, then you've probably noticed a discrepancy between what Android's documentation/hype claims and what the platform actually does. You've also noticed that code that would have been fine in JEE just isn't practical on Android. Maybe you've even noticed that Android's rapid release schedule can make static online resources like StackOverflow grow stale.

Wouldn't it be great if there were a place that you could tap some experienced developers and say "I tried X and the Internet says it should work, but it's not working. Any thoughts?"

A place for beginners...

If you're just starting, there is a ton of information that you "need to know" to "do it right" and odds are that your first 5 tries will be "wrong." You're not the first person to think that Services run in their own thread or that putting System.exit(0) in the stop method allows you to exit your program safely. After all, if you look in the wrong places, the Internet will even say that you're right.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a place where you could say "I'm thinking about doing X, does anybody have any thoughts on how I should approach it?" or "This is probably a stupid question, but the responses on the Internet are conflicting."

If you would like a place like that...

Whether you are an experienced Android developer, switching to Android from another platform, or just starting your life as a programmer, then consider stopping by.

Welcome!
