I loved being with others who feel the same about animals as I do. I think we reached many people.

great Group of people came out for the Friday demo and the weather was great( a slight little breeze), got a little 20 second video of the animal cages they had set up outside before they security came and " Talked to me", all in all it was a great event..

hi there, I am going to park either at business park area on arena blvd. or at shop center on truxel and walk over...see you tonite..

  • Linda Middlesworth

Other than PETA had a new spot for protest for 11:45 am meetup...it was great. I accidentally found them! Outside, not inside. Sorry we had some who tried but missed out..it was just a communication error......

    September 16, 2011

  • natasha S.

Unfortunately the directions to where the protest was to take place wasn't the easiest to find..Luckily my sons good eyes found it for me! When we got there, there wasn't many people attending as I thought there would be as it was posted here there would be more than what should up. Oh well, I figure better some there than none there.

Frustrating and disappointing. Specific meetup location was not clear, and so precious time and energy were wasted for many people just in trying to find the group. Powerbalance Pavilion is a very large place and it is crucial that people know exactly where to go. Parking is expensive so parking at a nearby shopping mall and walking to the "usual" location took extra time, only to find no one where I expected them to be. I also found the 11:45 am meetup time on a work day problematic in that I had to use vacation time to be there. The four hours of vacation time I spent were a total waste.

I have been vege for 15 years and believe in being a voice for the voiceless. Hope to see you all there!

    September 15, 2011

  • Jan

Thanks, Linda. I left a message on Matt's machine letting him know of my frustration and disappointment. He needs to be aware that the Powerbalance Pavillion (Arco) is a BIG place and specific location information must be provided--especially for people who are new at this! I'll try to be there tonight, driving directly over after work. I HOPE I find the group! *sigh*

    September 15, 2011

  • Linda Middlesworth

Hi everyone, I did not know protest change location for today only until I accidentally drove by Matt from PETA! So, there was a no clear discussion. For some reason, about 25 people found it, thank goodness. All the other protests will be in our usual spot at stairs before box office, inside.

    September 15, 2011

  • Jan

Thanks, Natasha. Yes, indeed, better communication is definitely needed so valuable time and effort are not wasted. The animals needed us and it was frustrating not to find the group--or even to know where to begin to look. We circled the entire arena complex and saw only the backs of several weary elephants. We couldn't even be their voice. So sad. :((

@JAN...i HEAR YA! There hardly anyone there! My son and I had to drive around for awhile to find the group..Better directions would have been appreciated..but all in all I was glad we came..Better some then none!

I live close so I walked over and was shooed out by a security guard but when I got to Truxel, they were out there on Truxel! I was so glad to find them. They won't let folks in except when the parking lot is open (per the security guard). No demo folks inside before the lots are open. So we demoed at the corner of Truxel and the East entrance. Were there for about an hour. Hopefully you can come tonight at 5:30.

I sure would like to know what happened. Only three of us showed up at the 11:45 protest today and no one else was there, including no one from PETA! Very disappointing as I took off work especially to attend this event.

    No worries Candice.

To all attending the Friday protest: I am coming from Roseville and have one more spot in my car. Anyone coming from Rocklin/Roseville/Lincoln area want to ride with me?

    September 14, 2011

  • Chris

there is no worry at all of being arrested at this event. this event is a great event to attend for a first time animal rights activist.

Amy, are you still able to give me a ride for Friday? let me know and i will send you my address.

Hope to see you all at the event..

    September 14, 2011

  • Linda Middlesworth

Natasha, NO, there is no danger of being arrested as we have legan rights to protest and hand out flyers on public area. As long as we do not block the path of anyone...and we do not do that. No worries. I try to ask people to dress more conservative so as not to look more mainstream... like the people going.

    September 14, 2011

  • Jan

Hi Natasha. We will be in the designated free-speech zone and will not be arrested. Usually, the security guards are very cooperative and understanding--protesters are a fixture at every single Ringling Bros. show. You can pay for parking but I usually park at a small shopping center across the street and walk over though the parking lot. It's not a long walk and saves the cost of parking. Signs and leaflets should be provided by PETA. Hope this helps. :)

Hi all this will mine and my teenage sons firat protest..We are looking firward to it, but my ason is a bit nervous (thinking we might get arrested) I told him not to worry about that happeneing cause its a peaceful protest, but he wanted to confirm that here. Also, do we have to pay for parking? and will signs be povided. This is for the Thursday protest at noon. Thanks for any info! :)

    September 14, 2011

  • Jan

Hi Jessica! This will be my 4th Ringling Bros. protest. The first time I was nervous, but the other protesters were very nice and helpful. They taught me everything I needed to know. Usually, posters and leaflets are provided and you just need to bring yourself. We meet out in front of the main entrance. You'll see all the signs & protesters easily enough. Last night, I had a call from Ingrid Newkirk herself urging a great show of protesters. So, bring friends, if you can! Hope this helps. :)
