1. Wednesday:

Workshop, then Screening of film: OPEN the CAGES at Colonial Heights/Sac Public Library

Please bring your own snacks or drinks for the evening.

2. Meet at PRIMATE CENTER! Thursday Day: 11:00 to 1:00. Be there for the media please. Be ON TIME so we do not miss media.

Directions:

I-80 to Highway 113 North, then take the Hutchison Drive exit, turn left (West) and go over Hwy 113 to the primate center (about 2 miles).

Other way to explain directions:

Hutchison Drive travels east and west, taking you from the heart of campus, out west across Highway 113, past West Village and the University Airport, and ending at County Road 98 (where you'll find lots of monkeys).

Hutchison is very popularly misspelled as Hutchinson (with an N). This mistake is so common that it actually was on one of the freeway signs in Davis as Hutchinson; it remained so for a couple of years until the sign was corrected in late 2006. Even Google maps and MapQuest add a gratuitous N to the stretch of Hutchison west of Highway 113. The correct spelling is Hutchison, and the name comes from C. B. Hutchison, a former faculty member of UC Davis.

Primate Center in Davis.

Wow! I signed up to see the film only I thought it was showing on the 19th, not the 18th. So sorry I missed it! But congrats to those who protested at the Primate Center. I read about it too late but I will go to the website and make a donation - it is the least I could do.
I have been out of town but I plan to play closer attention to this site so that I can participate in more activities!

Open the Cages was truly moving...even without graphic images! Wonderful job Mike,Carl, Jenny, John, Derek, Tatia for bringing this eye opening, truthful and powerful "whistleblower" film. I will support you any way I can. The Protest at UCDavis was covered by media and had nice turnout of 15 people...5 police cars watching our every move! The giant and cruel Primate Center MUST be stopped. We must do grassroots as the pharmacy and tobacco industry is so financially powerful...our hope is YOU. Please "Open the Cages" Tour..and support S.A.E. N. by going to website and donating even small amounts! The Primates, beagles, mice, chickens, etc. all need us to help them escape the prison and torture they endure. Have you seen how they capture babies from the jungle by chopping down the branches they are on so that they fall in nets into water, are then tied up in plastic bags and shipped to American and UK and other places? The mama watches this as her babies are ripped from her! PLEASE Give
