Sac WP Meetup Reboot: Featuring You, Sacramento!

UPDATE (Format)

Format wise, we're going to have informal networking and food from 6 pm to 7 pm - show up any time. At 7 pm sharp we'll start our talks, which should last no longer than about 45 minutes. We'll close with an "ask the group" open floor, so you can poll our collective minds with your WordPress questions.

We have a great speaker line up, across the spectrum of WordPress expertise and use cases! Each talk is a 5-10 minute lightning talk, so we shouldn't go longer than 45 minutes.

The husband & wife team at Bourn Creative - a Rocklin based WordPress agency - are both giving short back to back talks! Jennifer Bourn talks "Converting Visitors to Clients"; a review of the design/dev strategy behind their own site and how they convert visitors into leads. Brian Bourn will present "5 Must Have Plug-ins For Every WordPress Site", highlighting some popular and lesser known first class plug-ins.

Michael Shores from local digital strategy idmloco will present "Making Forms with Gravity Forms", a short overview of the form manager plug-in, and he's made it to play nice with services like Email Direct.

Local insurance nerd Kevin Knauss will present "Pictures get clicks...lessons from an insurance nerd" - featuring clever ways to integrate Tumblr feeds and increase engagement with N-relate plug-ins.

Finally, Jeff Marmis from C7group will present "Theme Choices". Picking a theme can be difficult, depending on your needs and skill level. Do you want to be able to seriously customize the site? What features matter most? Jeff will spend a few minutes introducing some ideas and sharing some examples of relaible theme sources.

We're rebooting the Sacramento WordPress Meetup, and we want you (to volunteer)!

The new organizing team is committed to a monthly meet up focused on networking, spotlighting awesome WordPress activity in Sacramento, and helping one another solve challenges we're conquering with WordPress. We have a diverse community: businesses and publishers using WordPress as their platform, developers building on WordPress, designers that want to extend their skill set, power bloggers, and just curious fans. This meet up is for all of you.

To that end, our first meet up is going to put the spotlight on 3-4 members of our community with short, 5-10 minute lightning talks! We're not just looking for developers and pros. We're hoping for 1 developer centric talk, and at least a few "use case" talks - maybe a business who uses WordPress to manage their website, or maybe a power blogger that wants to show off their 5 favorite plug-ins.
