We are The Glasgow Walking and Hillwalking Club and are delighted to twin up with S.D. County 4255.
We are very similar clubs and its great to follow you guys in your travels, its interesting to see other countries and their beautiful landscapes.
Scotland has the most dramatic and historical landscapes. We have the Wallace monument, William Wallace who we regard as Scotland's Martyr (I'm sure some of you have seen Braveheart) ,the fields where the MacGregors battled with the Campbells, the site where Rob Roys sword was buried but to name a few, the list is endless. The endless walks and hikes include The world famous West Highland Way and Ben Nevis. Scotland's highest peaks are known as Munro's started by Sir Huge Munro who listed every peak over 3,000 feet (hence the name Munro's) there are 289 of them and most of us that climb them are known as Munro baggers, many of our members have completed them all.
I could go on for pages about my beautiful country and its history but for now I just want to say that I am delighted that we have got together and have the opportunity to share our wonderful countries, feel free to join us and use our message boards with stories you want to share and we look forward to welcoming you on an event should you ever come to Scotland.
While we accept donations from members of the Glasgow group, donations are certainly not expected from members of the 4255.
I would love to show you around Scotland should you ever get the chance.
