7:30 to 8:30 PM: Speaker Lori Shein will discuss the topic of Writing Nonfiction for Young People.
Lori Shein is Managing Editor of ReferencePoint Press (http://www.referencepointpress.com/), which publishes nonfiction books (for middle school/high school levels) in the school and public library market. She has held that position since 2009. Before joining ReferencePoint, she worked for 16 years at Lucent Books—first as Editor and then as Managing Editor. She helped the company launch KidHaven Press, a sister imprint for upper elementary and lower middle school students. At the company’s height, she supervised a staff of nine editors. Before that she spent ten years working as a reporter for newspapers in San Diego County; Corpus Christi, Texas; and Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri.
Please be sure to tell a friend who might also enjoy our group!
Overview: We meet on the third Friday each month to discuss the business side of writing, publishing and promoting nonfiction books. First-time visitors to an NFAA local chapter are not required to be members of the Nonfiction Authors Association, however, if you'd return to a second meeting and beyond (and we hope you do!), we ask that you join us online (free memberships are available): http://NonfictionAuthorsAssociation.com .
We welcome experienced and aspiring writers of nonfiction. Attendees are also invited to participate in our unique Mastermind Group Spotlight where three to five participants can present an issue, question or challenge related to the publishing journey and receive feedback from the rest of the group. This is a wildly popular feature of our meetings!
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a leads group. If your primary objective is to sell something, this isn't the group for you. We are here to support each other on the publishing journey.
