Discussion Questions for Women, Race, and Class by Angela Davis Now Posted

From: Keely
Sent on: Monday, April 20, 2009 1:09 PM
Here are the book discussion questions for Women, Race, & Class:

1. How did the development of the abolitionist movement influence and inspire the first wave of the women's rights movement?

2. What was the source of the tension between the women's suffrage movement and the black suffrage movement? In what ways were black women victimized by this tension and in what ways did they rise above it?

3. What is the myth of the black rapist? How has the myth of the black rapist influenced black women's involvement with and interpretation of the anti-rape movement now and in the past?

4. How do the reproductive rights issues faced by women of color and working class women often differ from those faced by white, middle class women? Now and in the past, what reasons have women of color and working class women had to feel distrustful of the mainstream pro-choice movement?
