This will be a dinner meeting, so bring your appetites and enough money for your dinner. The Creole Cafe (right next door to the Whaley House in Old Town) is a very small venue (the indoor dining room can only hold 25 people), but the New Orleans-style food is great.
Before dinner we will discuss whatever ghost or paranormal topics you would like. After dinner we will have a simple investigation of the dining room, which is known to be haunted. On a previous investigation here we found and interacted with the spirit of a young girl named Amanda. Later investigations have also yielded some interesting results.
You can bring your camera(s), recorders, K2 meters, or other light equipment to help with the investigation. The investigation will be fairly simple, and will only last as long as the cafe's management wants to hang around after business hours. After we are done at the cafe we can also check out the grass yard that the cafe shares with the Whaley House. A shadow person has been sighted after dark in the same yard by the cafe staff. Those who are interested can also investigate the haunted El Campo Santo Cemetery with us later in the evening.
Do not RSVP "Yes" unless you are DEFINITELY going to come. This event usually fills up quickly, and we don't want to waste spots on people who don't show up. If by some chance something comes up that keeps you from attending after you have RSVP'd, please cancel your reservation so that someone on the waiting list can have your spot. Those who fail to show up without canceling will be banned from future events that have limited seating.
If you are not familiar with Old Town, parking can be a little hard to find sometimes, so come early to find a parking space.
The cost for this event is $2 per person, plus the cost of whatever you decide to have for dinner. The checks are individual, so only you will have to cover your own drink/food/tip amount. Please order a full meal and not just a token small item, as the cafe is being generous allowing us to book the entire dining room for the entire evening. Normally the cost for most meetings is $1. Some of our meetings have a higher fee, especially when there is a room cost. In this particular case we charge an extra dollar (for a total of a whopping $2!) so that that money can be given to the owners of the cafe as a tip from the group, as a way of saying thank you for letting us monopolize the entire dining room for the entire evening. Remember - the cafe is doing us a favor by excluding all other customers that they could have been having for that evening, as well as by letting us stay after closing hours to do an investigation. This extra dollar tip should not be confused with the tip that you leave your server, which should be separate and of the normal amount. If you don't like this policy, DON'T COME TO THE EVENT. (By the way, our event fees cover more than just our website cost, they help pay for equipment needed for our presentations, such as paying for our expensive PowerPoint projector.)
