National webOS Meetup Enyo Hackathon

We are proud to join the first NYC webOS Meetup hackathon!

NYC will be streaming their hackathon so that we can join via the intertubes. We will be using the superfast wifi courtesy of the @charcoalhouse http://charcoalhouse.biz/ (Thanks Fermin).

The focus of first hackathon will be app development using the newly open-sourced Enyo Javascript Framework (http://enyojs.com/). Enyo is a HP developed open-sourced, cross platform(iOS, Android, Blackberry, etc) javascript app framework - all mobile app developers invited. The event takes place on March 4th and is being hosted at the Pivotal Labs New York City Headquarters from 12pm - 6pm EST. HP is flying Ben Combee in especially for the event to have an Enyo Expert on site.

Time: 9:00am PST - 3:00pm PST ( Ben Combee's Presentation starting promptly at 9:15am PST)

Ben Combee is a senior member of the HP webOS engineering team, with a focus on frameworks, API design, and developer issues. He has spoken at JSConf, SXSW, Game Developers Conference, and many webOS events. He lives in Austin, TX with his wife and two cats. On Twitter, he’s @unwiredben (http://twitter.com/unwiredben). Tentative Plan/Schedule:

9:15 AM PST Presentation by Ben Combee, followed by rules & guidelines for the hackathon being announced by Ben Stern, aka @webOSdealer.

Several goals:

1. Introduce the Enyo JS framework to a new developer base.
2. Create multiple new webOS apps.
3. Attract new members to our existing meetup teams.
4. Teach attending hackers how to take an API & manipulate the data into an app.
5. Gain more visibility into Enyo JS.

3 ways to participate.

1. Go to an official participating meetup location and RSVP through that sites meetup page.

2. Gather a group of people together as a 'team' and participate virtually.

3. Attend virtually as an individual.

The basic structure will be:

9:15AM PST - Ben combee will be speaking via ustream followed by Ben Stern, aka @webOSdealer announcing the rules and the URL to rules etc for reference.
