Dagger Flats Exploratory Hike

Details
This will be an exploratory hike!!!
We will start the hike from Dillon Divide off of Little Tujunga Cyn Road. Start is at approximately 2700ft. We will hike the dirt road for 1/2 mile, and then drop down to Pacoima Wash, near Whitewater Cyn. The wash is reached in about 2 miles, and 300 ft loss. We will head upstream and pass a mine that is near the stream level at 2.5 miles. I thought I recall reading somewhere that this mine cuts completely through the hill (very short distance). I cannot find that source again, so, we'll have to see. After a short distance, we will reach Dagger Flat Trail, that switchbacks up the north face (south facing) canyon, to Santa Clara Truck Trail, approximately 5 miles and 1,300 feet gain.
Near the top, is Garfield 3,839'. Not listed on Peakbagger, but map does indicate a BM on the top. Another option for this hike, and we can decide as a group as we hike, is to skip the climb up Dagger Flat Trail, and continue to explore upstream. In the past, I had mapped out a 35 mile loop hike up here, but have never attempted, nor explored this lower half. Again, EXPLORATORY HIKE. We will set a 2 hour turn around, so we don't over extend our trip! Plan on as much as 10 miles, and 2,000 feet of climbing. The stream bed may be slow going, we'll have to see!
We will meet at the 7 Eleven at:
11348 Sunburst Street. From FOOTHILL and OSBORNE go NORTH on OSBORNE St. to LEXICON and turn left. You will see the 7 Eleven on your left.
Any Questions, please feel free to ask in the comments!
