Baden Powell & Ross Mountain

Details
Time: 7AM (seven AM) to 2PM (two PM).
We will meet at :
Vincent Grade/ Acton Metrolink
730 Sierra Hwy
Palmdale, CA 93550
at 6:00 am (six AM). We're meeting here due to a section of the road closed on Angeles Crest Highway if we were to drive from La Cresenta/Flintridge. Here is the link to Vincent Grade/ Acton Metrolink: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Vincent+Grade%2FActon+Metrolink+Station/@34.4994516,-118.118301,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x80c2f764aaffe9f1:0x45f45b9726808f1b
Also, bring your MICROSPIKES just in case, but if you don't have them, it's fine. Cal trans still has a section closed if entering from La Canada / Flintridge BUT from Pearblossom is open. Also, the Ranger said there should be NO snow & WONT require microspikes. Yay!Difficulty: Strenuous.
8 miles roundtrip for Baden Powell only,
13.5 miles roundtrip WITH Ross Mountain with a total of 4,800' elevation gain.
From Vincent Gap (6,593') parking lot we hike 4 miles up the 40+ switchbacks to the summit of Baden Powell, the 4th highest peak in So Cal, and break for a light lunch.

From here, you either return the same way to the parking lot & call it a day, or we continue hiking for 2.2 miles on a stunning ridge to Ross Mountain (7,402') offering some awesome views. From Baden Powell we drop 2,000' of elevation to reach Ross but gain it back on the way up back to Baden. Bagging Ross is one of the toughest hikes in the San Gabriels.
