Let's travel back in time to 1859 Beale's Cut, stand next to Juniper trees on the old Newhall Oil Refinery, looking down on the 14 fwy, the Santa Sussana mountains, the San Gabriels, & the Sierras far north! Read more about this on

http://www.scvhistory.com/scvhistory/lw2159a.htm We then cross the 14 fwy on foot (under it through a tunnel) and connect to Elsmere Canyon trail. If we're lucky, we'll find a waterfall I've been reading about! We'll also find several Geocaches along the way.

This will be a short shuttle hike.
The hike is under 5 miles one way with about 700-900 feet elevation gain.

Directions to Newhall Ave. & Whitney Canyon Rd.

Take Interstate 5 NORTH

merge onto 14 NORTH

Exit Newhall Ave. ( STAY TO THE RIGHT )

Turn right on Newhall Ave. and park.

BRING 2 LITERS OF WATER & SUN PROTECTION !!! Such as long sleev, hat,& SUN-glasses. Then join us at 6pm at the Old Town Newhall "Light Up Main Street" for wine tasting, gourmet food trucks, music, and selfies with Santa Clause!
