Nate McCall plus Cassandra Lightning talks at Formspring

Nate McCall plus Cassandra Lightning talks at Formspring

Details

This will be the inaugural meeting of the San Francisco Cassandra User Group.

I've just received note that Nate McCall (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/nate-mccall/42/499/378) from Austin will be in town, so I invited him to speak to the group. It was simply too good of an opportunity to miss. Nate currently works as software developer and evangelist for DataStax (http://www.datastax.com). He is also the lead developer and release manager of the Hector (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hector_(API)) client for Apache Cassandra. Nate has over 11 years of server side systems and software development experience in such industries as news and entertainment, on-line gaming and advertising.

Nate will giving the following presentation: How to integrate Apache Cassandra with your existing Java application. Unlike other presentations already available, this demo will use the new JDBC driver and pooling implementation recently completed for the Apache Cassandra 1.0.0 release. More specifically, it will cover how to configure a pooling JDBC DataSource connection to Apache Cassandra with an IoC container like SpringFramework.

We're also looking for a few lightning talks for this month's meetup. If you'd like to present at the, send me a note at lynnbender@datastax.com .

The folks at Formspring (http://formspring.me) have once again graciously offered to host the Cassandra Community. Formspring is currently hiring (http://about.formspring.me/jobs).

We'll open the doors at at 6:30 and serve pizza/beverages. The talk will start at 7:15.
