To understand what we are about, watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=vWeQfNp...

This was a group for people interested in issues such as sustainability and economic justice and wanting to create a complementary currency for San Francisco Bay Area. That currency has since been created. Check it out: www.bay-bucks.com.

Bay Bucks is a social startup. Our goal is not VC-funding, acquisition by Google/Facebook etc, or high-profile IPO. It will be crowd-funded, structured as a non-profit or co-op, and the goals are to be sustainable and to provide maximum value to all users, rather than to extract maximum profits from them.

The key founders and volunteers meet weekly to coordinate our work. Eventually, key contributors will be invited to become members or employees of the non-profit/co-op we form to run the system. Together, we will create meaningful work for ourselves and build a sustainable economy for everyone.

We need all talents, especially: sales folks, marketers, copywriters, biz dev folks, web & mobile developers, monetary theorists,  graphic designers, videographers, lawyers, crowd fund-raisers, strategists, writers/bloggers, event organizers… Come tell us what you want to do and we'll find a job for you!

If you are a new member, please start by reading the minutes of our meetings in the Discussions page. This will allow you to participate more meaningfully during the meetup:
