Pair to Learn

Hey all,

We are hosting our first 'Pair to Learn' night. We'd like to pair you with someone who has something you want to learn from, and vice versa.

The idea is simple: we all learn best by observing and working with the experts, someone who can teach us a skill we've always wanted to learn, show us his/her workflow that makes us more productive, and give us some insights that could open up new opportunities for us.

If you are attending this meetup, and have something to teach, please update the spreadsheet. Read more about it here

Here is the structure we'll be working with:

  • 6:30 - 7:00 - Match up skill sets, let the group know what you want to learn and what you can teach.
  • 7:00 - 8:00 - First hour skill exchange - Learn/Teach
  • 8:00 - 9:00 - Second hour skill exchange - Teach/Learn

Bring your laptop. I'm looking for companies who can sponsor a good pairing environment - decent size monitors, mouses and keyboards. Send me a message if you can help.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you there!

Eric

I'm signed up to teach some design principles, but I didn't realize this was the same night as a big feature rollout. Our deploy has gone a bit sideways, and I'm not going to get out of here until much later. I'll change my RSVP so a waitlister can join. Bummed I can't make it this time, sounds like a lot of fun!

Thanks. I'm in town that day, so the question is not whether I can make it, the question is: will someone cancel as I'm still on the waiting list ;). I did edit the spreadsheet as I can teach people how to create adaptive/responsive websites. And as of now I'd love to be an observer and see what you, Eric, are going to teach your learners.

Looks like we are going to have a pretty good turn out. I'm really excited to see you guys. I've created speadsheet for you to tell the group what you are planning to teach. Please take time to fill it out. This will others to decide who they want to pair with. read moer here:

We've got an awesome place for this meetup. Thanks to the kind folks at Hack Reactor. They have pair stations we can use. Please make sure to bring your laptop. Please note that I've moved the date to June 12 6:30pm due to space availability.

Hey all, i'm really excited to see so many people attending the first meetup. I'm currently still looking for a suitable place for the meetup. Does anyone have any suggestions or know a company that might be willing to provide the space?
