    Thanks Ben, for the clarification.
As I mentioned, I am new (and naive) to this group (but still, why did a 1 yr old thread come out on top).
I am down here in South Silicon Valley, but I hope to get up there in the near future to participate. Again, thanks for the clarification... -I should have paid more attention to the bytes after "October." :-)

Ah yes... Meetup is a marketing tool also. I would like someone to point out the difference between a paid class (or course) and a meeting of like minded individuals. I am fairly new to the magento world, but it seems like every time I get invited to a social situation or gathering, it always involves money... -a lot of it. Someone should start a group called coursewareup, because this is what meetup is really becoming. Ok... that's enough of my 2 cents (-probably the cheapest amount of money that you will ever get from a magento conversation). Best regards,
    Johnny

Not sure why you are commenting on a one year old thread, Johnny, but for what it's worth, this thread was started by a community member (non-Magento employee), and there are many more free events in the Magento community than there are paid events. For example, there was a meetup in SF during the training I conducted last year which was free for all and included pizza, beer, and coffee. Sorry you missed it.

Thanks Ben! As mentioned, I am new to this group (and naïve -still why in the heck did a 1 yr old thread come up on top). I am down here in South Silicon Valley and hope to get the time to go up to the city and participate. Thanks for the clarification...

    Hi everybody,

I'm excited to announce that this course will take place in San Francisco in October. I (and every single developer on our team) did this training and it's totally worth every penny. Ben Marks is doing an awesome job teaching all the fundamentals of Magento development. This course is not only highly interesting, it's also a lot of fun! So if you're a Magento developer and didn't do this training yet or if you want to get started with Magento development, this is your thing! :)

    Cheers,

    Fabrizio
