Monster w/Stripe & JEE6 and Mongo and Geolocation with MongoDB

Greg Brockman is a MongoDB expert, and has been leading development at Stripe where they use MongoDB to power their event processing system.

Monster is Stripe's in-house framework for producing and consuming events. Whenever a user logs in, whenever a payment is received, whenever a cron job runs, an event is logged into our MongoDB event store. These events update aggregate totals, feed into fraud algorithms, and can be analyzed as a changelog of the system. In this talk, we'll discuss how MongoDB's unique features make it easy to implement Monster. We are going to bring a REST web services using CDI and JAXRS that does simple CRUD operations. This session, will cover the basics of running this application on your laptop and then move it right up into the cloud. We will also have Shashank Tiwari speak about Geospatial Indexing

This talk illustrates mongoDB's support for geolocation. It explains how these features could be leveraged to build a number of different awesome geolocation sensitive applications. It also discusses the limitations and a few possible extensions.
