Marty Nemko: What Every Career-Minded Person Must Know and Probably Doesn't

  • July 25, 2013 · 7:00 PM

Today, standard advice and conventional wisdom such as "network, network, network" is inadequate. Dr. Nemko will present eight career "truths" that aren't so true. He will make liberal use of powerful and entertaining examples as well as statistics. For each of the eight, he will offer practical takeaways that will give you an edge in your career, whether you're looking for a job or are employed and trying to take your career to the next level:

-- Great under-the-radar careers

-- Great, low-risk/high-payoff self-employment opportunities

-- Ahead-of-the-oack strategies for job seekers

-- True keys to getting ahead

-- Wise, inspiring advice on the life well-led

I felt so badly, I have been charged twice. I paid online for my friend and I before the event, but when my friend got there, they asked my friend to pay again, she thought maybe I didn't pay, so she paid for herself and me again!

How badly the management was! I don't how can I get the refund!?

I regularly listen to Marty on Sunday mornings on KALW. The MOST interesting part of the whole evening (I did come a bit late due to prior commitment so missed any initial intros / dicsussions) was the story he told about his father and the holocaust. That kind of personalization really hits home. Thanksn for sharing, Marty.

Very interesting and entertaining speaker. I liked that I wasn't told to network, network, network.

I am confused about the date. The email says 7/18, but SFPCN lists the date as 7/25.

We had to move the event back a week because of a snafu with the venue. The new date is 7/25. Sorry for the confusion!

I think so; his past presentations have been interactive.

I really admire Mr. Nemko. I used to work with him at KALW 91.7. His shows was amazing, all natural. I recommend his blog, it's down-to-earth and offers practical advice.
