Riak on Engine Yard Cloud; Intro to Riak CS
Details
Hi All,
After taking a month off (to finalize RICON East (http://ricon.io/east.html) - which we will be streaming live this Monday and Tuesday), we're back with a great meetup for the month of May. There are two talks planned: the first about Riak on the Engine Yard Cloud; the second about the recently-open-sourced Riak CS.
As usual, food and drink will be provided. Just make sure to register before seats disappear and bring your hard questions. The Engine Yard crew is hosting us this month in addition to speaking, so be sure to thank Ines, Tasha, Jennifer, and the rest of the team when you arrive.
Talks start at 7PM sharp. See you in a few weeks.

A Tour of Riak on Engine Yard Cloud
Ines Sombra; Lead Data Engineer, Engine Yard
Engine Yard (http://engineyard.com) provides a hardened and secure Platform as a Service in the Cloud, with support for multiple languages, databases, and other stack components. As customers grow, so do their need for highly fault-tolerant solutions.
Engine Yard recently announced our Riak offering (https://pages.engineyard.com/hosted-riak.html), the first fault-tolerant and non-relational database available on our cloud. In this talk, we'll give you a tour of Riak on Engine Yard Cloud. We'll show you the many things we've built into our Riak product, what we've learned, what we have planned for this fantastic database, and how our customers are deploying and using it today.
An Introduction to Riak CS
Mark Phillips; Director of Community and Dev. Evangelism, Basho
Basho recently open-sourced (http://basho.com/riak-cs-is-now-open-source/) Riak CS. Built on top of Riak, Riak CS (http://docs.basho.com/riakcs/latest/) is highly-available, scalable cloud storage used by companies like Datapipe, Rovio, and Yahoo! Japan to power private and public offerings.
Mark will take you through the Riak CS architecture, bring you up-to-speed on how to build apps against it, and, time permitting, show you how to build your own Riak CS cluster before you put it into production. You'll also get a peek at the upcoming roadmap for CS.
