Introducing Mecha

John Muellerleile, Engineer, Remixation

ShowYou (http://showyou.com/) is social video application that runs two Riak clusters in production. The first handles primary data storage and serves the majority of their operational requests. The second cluster uses a custom-built extension called "Mecha" to handle the search and analysis of over 1 billion pieces of semi-structured data.

In this talk ShowYou Engineer and Basho Alumnus John Muellerleile (https://twitter.com/#!/jrecursive) will share some details on ShowYou's Riak deployment with a focus on Mecha. A purpose-built add-on to Riak that takes advantage of Riak's pluggable storage model, Mecha enables ShowYou to extend Riak's Key/Value functionality and incorporate search and analytics.
