About us
A place for Chinese (of all nationalities), Americans, and all those in-between to get together and share our cultures. One is over 5000 years old and the other is not quite 250, so clearly there is a lot to learn from each other.
這是一個讓華人(來自各國)、美國人及所有世界人聚在一起、分享文化的地方。一個文化有超過五千年的歷史,而另一個則不到二百五十年,因此我們顯然可以彼此學到很多。
We've been meeting weekly since 2010 to just chat and to help those wanting to improve their language skills. We also do occasional group meals, picnics, and karaoke, along with our near-annual Chinese New Year party.
自2010年以來,我們每週聚會,輕鬆聊天,幫助那些想提高語言技能的人。我們也偶爾會舉辦聚餐、野餐和卡拉OK活動,還有我們幾乎每年一次的春節聚會。
Your organizer, "Tokyo Jim", has visited China 17 times so far, including living in Chengdu for 3 ½ months to study the language (no, not Sichuanese!) and hopes to continue visiting every year.
組織者「東京持夢」迄今已訪問中國17次,包括在成都住了三個半月學習語言(不,不是四川話!),並希望每年都能繼續訪問。
Everyone is welcome, as long as you have a genuine interest.
只要你有真正的興趣,歡迎大家加入。

春節晚會 / Chinese New Year Party
Bay Scene Condominiums, 3940 Gresham Street, San Diego, CA, USIt's time to welcome in the Year of the Horse. This year we're back at our Sail Bay clubhouse location in Pacific Beach.
Once again it will be potluck style. PLEASE bring a main dish (preferable) or dessert that will provide at least 6 portions!
I, Tokyo Jim, will supply tea and other Asian "soft" drinks as well as plates, cups, utensils, and the audio/video equipment.
Of course we'll have karaoke/卡拉OK, plus feel free to bring a mahjong/麻將 set. If you'd like to bring a custom song to sing, please bring a USB-A stick with an mp4 file on it. Or send it (or a URL) to me ahead of time and I'll add it into my system.
Needless to say, if you are not feeling well, please do not attend.
These parties are a good chance for those who aren't able to attend our weekly Thursday meetups to enjoy Chinese culture in San Diego and meet fellow members. We typically have about 40 people attending. You can see photos from a previous event here.
There is construction ongoing at this location. Park on the street or ride the 8/9/27/30 bus and follow the "Lobby Entrance" signs, then use the entry system to gain access. Details will be provided to those who are attending.
If you have a flair for decoration, please contact me so you can come early and help make the room festive.
Unfortunately, this location is not currently handicap accessible, as there are many steps along the way. Most of these steps will be eliminated within the next year or two, however.
馬年快樂 and hope to see you soon!
